today was the best. victory at sea!

we're in montauk, at the farthest reach of long island. he's surfing, i'm being an artist. just closed the october issue at work, and life is good. tomorrow: surf, horses, sun. happiness.

go out and enjoy these last sweet days of summer!

in florida this weekend, helping my mom (and most assuredly *not* basking by the shore). one day i promise to tell you (if not here, then in my yet-to-be-written book) the story of my mother's tiki bar beach wedding. you absolutely cannot make this stuff up, friends.

i saw this little plate in an etsy finds email and followed it to the shop -- such delicate, lovely things! wonderful to register for, or as gifts... or a beach wedding... or just because.

(i must note that i posted this *even though* there is a typo in the listing title, which i mark as a bit of progress in my typo-OCD. baby steps! the other listings are too sweet not to post.)

summah samplah #1: beach wedding

was supposed to be at the beach in NC this weekend, didn't work out with taking off from the day job... and of course sometimes it's just nice to be at home when you've been traveling so many weeks in a row.

still... i miss the shore. there's not much better than that feeling at the end of a summer day, when your skin is still salted, and the sun hits everything at that slant-orange color, and the breeze is coming in off the water with the waves rolling in, and you're *just* getting hungry for dinner. yes please.
