Casual Black & White Maids

I've gotten a request from a summer bride looking for bridesmaids dresses that will fulfuill her black & white preppy affair. Here are my favorites via nordstrom. I would advise - stay away from graphic prints as they will look to overdone with your multiple maids!

snow? rain? grey day? if you don't live in florida, (and aren't my mom, who *loves* to call in february and say things like -- hold on darling, i can't hear you over the pool pump) (gah!) you might also be feeling that crazy old yearning for songbirds, pastel sorbet colors, anything linen or open-toed, and -- for the love of god, a leaf! a petal! a single crocus! anything. usually it hits me mid-march, am a bit early this year.

in that spirit, here are a spring dozen of fresh thank you note sets, in varying numbers. many of the sellers can make up a batch in however many your gratefulness or etiquette dictates. especially nice for spring/summer weddings.

Preppy Wedding Takes a Vacation (to attend a wedding!!)

Sorry for the lack of posts last week. Things have been a little crazy at work and I have just been playing catch up physically since my trip to NYC. And do you remember me telling you about that destination wedding in Mexico, well the husband and I leave at 6 am tomorrow for sunny Playa del Carmen. It is going to be a fantastic trip to celebrate the wedding of Mr. Preppy Wedding�s best friend from college.

I�ve got some posts saved up for you all, so I�m hoping that you�ll be hearing from me even as I sit on the beach with a margarita in hand. Oh and since I know you�re wondering, I got this fantastic dress for the wedding, this staple for the rehearsal dinner and a bunch of cute finds from Target to round out the mix. I�ll also be taking pictures so you�ll get to see all the fun we�ve had when I return.

i've been away for what feels like forever. one of the good things about being away is coming back to an inbox filled with lovely ideas. i have a few goodies to share with you all...but first, i don't want to neglect my tagged status. amber, this one's for you!

p.s. amber's blog, daisy chain, is a major source of inspiration for me. she's the one who found and shared the now infamous 'coffee filter' anthro display.

1) i like to write haikus when i send text messages.
2) i prefer texting to calling.
3) i start craving red meat when i don't eat it for a while.
4) i read and re-read emails before, during and even after i send them.
5) i don't have a favorite color.
6) i always wish i could win the lotto. but i've never actually purchased a lotto ticket.
7) i buy US weekly every week. and read perezhilton every day.

McCain vs Obama: Ethanol

David Brooks reports:

In 2000, McCain ran for president and reiterated his longstanding opposition to ethanol subsidies. Though it crippled his chances in Iowa, he argued that ethanol was a wasteful giveaway. A recent study in the journal Science has shown that when you take all impacts into consideration, ethanol consumption increases greenhouse gas emissions compared with regular gasoline. Unlike, say, Barack Obama, McCain still opposes ethanol subsidies.

The New Republic reports that Barack Obama has surprisingly non-ideological policy shop.

Absolutely true. But I doubt any of those excellent economists in the policy shop would be willing to defend the anti-NAFTA, anti-Walmart rhetoric of their candidate.
